April 24, 2024 My Daughter Isabelle was 10 years old when she decided to try Ringette, her skating level was beginner. She was a hold on the board’s kind of skater-the start for most skaters who are learning to skate for the first time. As a mom I was of course nervous for her and scared she might feel discouraged and decide after the first practise, that she no longer wanted to continue. I feared she was going to feel like she wasn’t good enough, since her skating ability was far below the average ability of the girls on the ice. To my surprise, Isabelle got off that ice after first practise and said that was awesome! She began to explain how her Coaches Jen and Sarah were helping her learn how to skate and how to improve her confidence in her ability to skate. That following Sunday, my daughter for the first time was standing at the door waiting to leave she was so excited to go again, and this continued for the whole ringette season. Each week her dad and I could see improvements in Isabelles skating and soon, she was passing a ring and learning stick handling. Practises were always well organized; Coaches Jen and Sarah certainly handled the different age range within the team by organizing the drills and skill training by each players skill set. After a few months, you could see the team really became a team. You could see the all the girls on the team really embraced learning how to play the game of ringette. My daughter was having so much fun. At home you could see improvements in her attitude, her energy and she all around was a brighter more eager to do things kid.
